Whitewashing Barn Wood

Well, I finally got my painting done in my family room and when I got it all done, I decided that the barnwood is just too dark in that room. I was going to buy Minwax Whitewash Pickling Stain, but it was late at night and I'm an impulsive person, so I just mixed white paint and water.


It's far from done, but I think it will make this room look lighter and brighter. Very cottage like! Of course now I'm going to need new window treatments!

Back in the Studio!

I am finally back in my studio! Work has slowed down and things are back to normal, for the most part. My Etsy shop has suffered as I have not been able to promote and keep my sales up. I have a few custom orders that I have to get caught up on and then I am just going to work my tail off and get ready for the holiday season. I am planning on screen printing some burlap for the Christmas season. I am very excited about it! I just love burlap! Maybe some gift bags, planters...so many possibilities!

One Crazy Summer

It has been one crazy summer! I have been bogged down at work for the last month and have not had any time in my studio or out on the road to search for treasures. My Etsy shop and my Artfire shop are almost empty. I feel like a rat in a cage right now, but this too shall pass. I apologize to all of my customers who are anxiously waiting for their custom orders and I greatly appreciate their patience. It shouldn't be too much longer before I can get back in there and fire up my torch! My son is moving to Denver on August 28th and after he leaves, I'm hoping to take a break Labor Day weekend and enjoy it with my family at the cabin and then get back to creating.

Stamping Silver Plate Spoons

I love this!! I am now making bracelets from silver plate spoons, something I've been planning on doing for over a year, but got too involved in other projects.



First, I anneal the spoon and then pound the heck out of it with a hammer until it's flat!! (Tee Hee!! That part is so much fun!!!) Then I stamp it with metal stamps and mark and drill holes on each end. Then comes the tough part, bending the spoon! But, alas, all is not lost! I bought a bracelet bender on eBay last year, which makes this project 100x easier!! Add charms, jump rings and a clasp and Viola!!

Soldered Art Pendants

I so love making these pendants! I have some listed on Etsy right now!!

It's kind of a long process, but I so enjoy the creation. I cut the brass, hammer and sand it. Then I add the solder and a slice of copper pipe. I add a chosen image and add some crystal clear resin and viola!!
